auke-lpapp: sorry, can't help you there. Thanks for your help yesterday, i'm one step closer to my fully customized distro. The next step is to make xmms2 work. I have created a recipe and it builds and runs fine, i can even play music. But there is a problem when reading id3 tags. XMMS2 uses glib to convert from/to utf8 (g_convert function) which fails to convert anything. I suspect that iconv support is missing in glib, but have no clue how to fix this. Any ideas?11:16
lpappno idea, I dislike glib/gtk/gnome :-)11:18

lpappI would imagine either -O0 or -O2, but -O1 does not seem to be completely good from either directin.15:48
lpappdirection.*15:48
lpappI guess -O0 should be used for the debug package, but that is empty in my case for some reason... I wonder why that can be happening. Got a clue?15:50
ndecit's -Wl,O1, so it's the linker O1 optimization, not the compiler.15:51
lpappyet, my binary is optimized even with -ggdb.15:52
lpappwhich means I cannot get the value of optimized variables, etc, when debugging with gdbserver.15:52
lpappI think the right way would be to figure out why my dbg package is empty.15:53
lpappbut I do not know what Yocto does for creating those type of packages. :/15:53
ndecthe source code and the non striped binaries are put in -dbg.15:54
lpappnon-stripped is not enough15:54
lpappit also has to be -ggdb and -O015:54
lpappok, in that case the -dbg package is not what I need since I do not need the source files on the target when using gdbserver15:55
lpappI am actually pretty surprised that I even need unstripped -ggdb -O0 with gdbserver... I thought gdbserver is for being able to debug stripped binaries on the target with all the symbols and no-optimization on the host?15:56
ndecwell, the -dbg have been enough for my uses case. i generally use gdb on the target15:56
ndeci haven't used gdb-server with oe.15:56
lpappyeah, I understand. We cannot have that luxurious environment here, unfortunately.15:56
lpappbut my question is important IMHO; shouldn't gdbserver allow me to have a stripped and optimized binary on the target, whereas the host can be bloated with the non-stripped and non-optimized binary in turn?15:57
lpappI thought that is pretty much the only use case behind gdbserver :-)15:58
lpapp(and that it is smaller than its full-blown gdb counterpart)15:58

ndecthere is nothing rebuilt for -gdb. the component is built only once.16:15
lpapphmm, that is a serious flaw, I would say.16:15
lpappIMHO, the -dbg package should be built with -g and -O0 to be a proper debug package.16:16

Nitinvolker: you may want to look here for support: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/highlights/dsktpboards/db-d54250wyb18:37
volkerNitin: yes, we verified the correct version. The 0030 one seems to be faulty but the latest we found when searching for our board18:38
Nitinvolker: I am not a firmware guy, I work on Yocto Project and will be able to help you out on the Yocto Side, but for the firmware issues you will have to go through the channel available on intel.com18:38
Nitinvolker: http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/contactsupport?group=softwareservices18:39
volkerNitin: ok, thanks. thats what I thought. But asking never hurts :)18:40
Nitinvolker: Wish you best ! :)18:40
volkerNitin: yeah, we need that. I don't know what Intel does with the NUC bioses, all different NUC models we had made trouble with the BIOS18:41
Nitinvolker: I am bit surprised with your findings. the NUC family is popular if it is common issue it should have been escalated fast18:42

volkerNitin: resetting should be the case when the BIOS is flashed the first time. So, no that is not the issue. It goes down to the kernel level. And I have to disagree, the forum is full with the first versions of the NUC with BIOS issues. You couldn't even install windows on the first ones ;-)19:38
