landgrafsakoman: Sorry for sending two patches for the same issue (musl+arm). I tried to explain the reason in the cover letter of the second one, it looks too invasive for stable branch for me15:01
barathfor the curious, my issue earlier today was indeed caused by us creating a package with a name that ends in dev. that lead to a Recommends being added for that backage, which in turn caused a bunch of other -dev packages to be included, ultimately including perl and python15:18
RPbarath: that sounds like something we should probably try and improve, might be worth a bug report15:20
barathof course, we shouldnt have packages with names that end in -dev. maybe there could be a QA check for packages that end in -dev-dev, which could catch this (as long as default -dev packages are built)15:20

mabnhdevI'm working with Kirkstone. Poky started using meson to build some packages.  For my mips (octeon2-o32) and arm32 platforms, several packages fail with the error './git/meson.build:3:0: ERROR: Executables created by c compiler ... are not runnable.'.  To get around this, I'm going back and grabbing the most recent recipes for these packages that16:13
mabnhdevdon't use meson and putting them in my meta layer.  Before I really commit to that strategy, I wanted to check with the board first about any better way to deal with this.16:13
mabnhdevEverything builds fine for my aarch64 and x86-64 platforms, so I suspect it's an architecture-related problem.16:15

AlexanderKrimm[mi had the same/similar issue when compiling to zen3/amd-milan. The problem there was, that meson compiles some test executable and tries to execute it. This required qemu to be setup correctly with the correct cpu instruction set, which was not the case by default when using the amd-meta layer. `QEMU_EXTRAOPTIONS_zen3 += " -cpu EPYC-Milan-V1,check=false"` which fixed the meson problem for me. But looking at that patch it seems that16:37

paulbarkermoto-timo: It's auto-generated for each job and destroyed when the job finishes19:05
moto-timopaulbarker: what would the url be to see the built containers?19:05
paulbarkerThey should appear under https://github.com/orgs/crops/packages once they're deployed in the CROPS org19:06
paulbarkerI tested it on my user account: https://github.com/pbrkr?tab=packages19:06
moto-timopaulbarker: just wondering what the "docker pull" url would be for instance...19:07
paulbarkermoto-timo: It'll be `ghcr.io/crops/yocto:ubuntu-20.04-base` for example19:07
paulbarkerYou should be able to push to anything within the `ghcr.io/crops/...` namespace from a github action in a repository in the crops org19:08
moto-timopaulbarker: ok, that makes sense :)19:09

paulbarkermoto-timo: I was thinking there's a couple of EOL distros we can drop19:16
paulbarkerAs well as adding Fedora 3719:17

rburtonas that is super useful, thanks paulbarker19:23
paulbarkermoto-timo: Looks like we have a permission issue19:23
moto-timopaulbarker: that is rather handy... ubuntu-18.04 non-ESM support ends in 2 months and 2 weeks ;)19:23
paulbarkermoto-timo: Could be https://stackoverflow.com/a/72585915 we need to do19:24
paulbarkerI can't see the permission or role controls as I'm not an admin on the crops org19:24
paulbarkerIt looks like it allowed the creation of a `yocto` container name for the first job that got to the deploy, then the rest were denied permission to push new tags to it19:25
moto-timopaulbarker: that is unfortunate, because we will _always_ have multiple tags19:25
paulbarkermoto-timo: I hope it's a one time permissions fix to allow the jobs to push more tags19:26

paulbarkerSince I can't even see the settings page to guess what may be wrong19:33
moto-timopaulbarker: I'm trying to read the docs now, but I didn't see anything obvious in the settings.19:34
paulbarkermoto-timo: If you grant me admin temporarily I can have a look, or we can look at it via a screen share19:37

paulbarkermoto-timo: I re-ran one job on a hunch and it worked: https://github.com/crops/yocto-dockerfiles/actions/runs/3933332161/jobs/672718891319:46
paulbarkerNow I see alma-8 & alma-9 in https://github.com/crops/yocto-dockerfiles/pkgs/container/yocto/versions19:46
moto-timopaulbarker: maybe because I changed the setting to allow public packages, not just private19:46
paulbarkerPossibly yes19:46
paulbarkerOr a race condition with other jobs trying to add tags so soon after the "package" (as GH sees it) was created19:47
paulbarkerI think we re-run the lot and see what happens19:47
paulbarkerUnfortunately the only way to test deployments is to do it live19:47
moto-timopaulbarker: I started the manual job19:47
* paulbarker crosses fingers19:48

moto-timopaulbarker: I linked the PR to the poky-container ghcr request/issue20:02
paulbarkermoto-timo: However, I think it's now private. I can't pull an image without being logged in and https://github.com/orgs/crops/packages is empty if I open it in an incognito session20:03
paulbarkerI've gone ahead and made it public20:04
paulbarkerLet's hope it can still be pushed to next time20:04
moto-timopaulbarker: should be ok now... but we need to remember to do the same dance for any other repo/packages...20:09
paulbarkermoto-timo: Yes, it's definitely a bit of a dance20:09
moto-timopaulbarker: I was able to `docker pull ghcr.io/crops/yocto:ubuntu-22.04-base`20:09

paulbarkerI'll look at poky-container next though won't have chance today20:10
