Guest40so using IMAGE_POSTPROCESS_COMMAND is it not possible ? i mean...the fisical rootfs file is not yet generated in this step ?08:52
LetoThe2ndGuest40: an image is only one rootfs. so what you technically could do is by defining a custom image type include the *very same* rootfs again as a tar.gz. but that sounds like needlessly restricting yourself.08:53
RPGuest40: you could depend on another image recipe which could provide that second rootfs08:54

Guest79agherzan Here's how i discovered the performance difference between "meta-raspberrypi" dunfell and kirkstone:14:01
Guest791) I'm doing CPS(Cycle Per Second) calculation in my code. I see between 23-25 in Dunfell, 15-17 in Kirkstone. I debug in my code to understand what is causing low cps and i noticed that OpenCV's resize() function is returning slower in Kirkstone.14:01
Guest792) I created a main.cpp and resized 1640x1232 and 640x480 cv::Mat to 300x300 5000 times in it and calculated the elapsed time.14:01
Guest79In Kirkstone, the 1640x1232 resolution takes 30-31 seconds to resize. In Dunfell, it's 19-20 seconds.14:01
Guest79I zip the code (C++) and test results i wrote, I will share it below.14:01
Guest793) I thought the problem would be caused by OpenCV, but the OpenCV version i used in Dunfell and Kirkstone is the same and the recipes are the same. However, i pulled the latest OpenCV version from the "meta-openembedded" master and got a build. But, the result did not change.14:01
Guest794)I finally thought of benchmarking with the "sysbench" tool. I noticed something like this in the thread workload benchmark I made:14:01
Guest79While a single thread can execute 4125 events in 20 seconds in Kirkstone, it can execute 9227 events in Dunfell. I am sharing the test results below.14:01
Guest79**Test results of step 2 and 4 : https://easyupload.io/rfgfmx14:01
Guest79**If you want me to upload it somewhere else, I can upload it there.14:01
Guest79By the way, i'm new to Yocto. I looked for my mistake as best i could and tried to solve it. I did everything i could to the best of my knowledge and came to the conclusion that the problem was not my fault. Maybe i am wrong but believe me i tried to figure it out myself before i came here. I'm sorry if im wrong, I'd appreciate it if you corrected14:01

JaMaGuest79: please use pastebin14:08
Guest79sorry, i forgot.14:08
JaMaand it's 32bit, ok, that didn't change14:08
Guest79https://pastebin.com/7Qc3K0Pu also rpi4 32 bit machine.14:09
JaMacan you try to downgrade the kernel in kirkstone or upgrade in dunfell?14:09
JaMathat is IIRC 5.4 to 5.1514:10
Guest79JaMa as i said, im new to Yocto. I need to check how to do "kernel downgrade", after that i will write :)14:12
JaMacopying recipes-kernel/linux/ from kirkstone to dunfell version of meta-raspberrypi might do the job (togeher with update of conf/machine/include/rpi-default-versions.inc:PREFERRED_VERSION_linux-raspberrypi ??= "5.15.%")14:19
qschulzJaMa: I suspect the overrides syntax change may make this a bit more difficult than just copying files14:22
JaMano kirkstone syntax is compatible with dunfell14:23
JaMaso it would be an issue only in the other direction (downgrade in kirkstone)14:23
Guest79i was doing opposite and trying to fix syntax. u saved me :D14:23
JaMaah :)14:24

*** zpfvo <zpfvo!~fvo@i59F5CF60.versanet.de> has joined #yocto15:17
JaMaGuest79: there is a script to do the conversion, see https://git.openembedded.org/openembedded-core/tree/scripts/contrib/convert-overrides.py15:17
JaMaor revert the commit https://github.com/agherzan/meta-raspberrypi/commit/316b017c53f45da4fb76fab717f3e0a47b239f75 which was after the overrides syntax conversion and just adjust PREFERRED_VERSION_linux-raspberrypi15:18
Guest79JaMa thank you15:19
JaMaonce it's confirmed, you can also test with 5.10 version which is also available15:19
agherzanIt could be worth checking RaspberryPi OS too for comparison.15:19
JaMaGuest79: also are you sure, you're measuring it correctly? doesn't it depend on something random?15:20
agherzanAlso a bump in meta-raspberrypi kernel would be a good check15:20
Guest79JaMa the tests i do are not dependent on any random value or calculation.15:21
JaMaGuest79: if you have time I would be also interested in comparing it with 64bit build15:21
Guest79agherzan i will try it with latest Raspberrypi OS15:22
Guest79JaMa i will try when i finish your and agherzan steps.15:25
