kanavinRP_, I'm available, just not sure where to start13:28
RP_kanavin: the issue is that oe-selftest relies on being able to set MACHINE =  or DISTRO = in the config files, which is incompatible if it has been set with fragments.13:31
RP_kanavin: we either need to teach selftest to have a good way of setting the machine/distro with fragments, always, or, we teach it to unset the fragments in the isolated build directory it creats13:31
kanavinRP_, we should probably rework the selftest to set it with fragments? I can embark on that, just don't know how long time it will take13:31
RP_kanavin: I think at this point we use my workaround above for release, then come back to this?13:32

kanavinthen I need to reproduce it first?13:38
RP_kanavin: reproducer is easy. lib/oeqa/selftest/cases/archiver.py, put test_archiver_multiconfig_shared_unpack_and_patch and test_archiver_srpm_mode into a class Archiver2(OESelftestTestCase):, set BB_SERVER_TIMEOUT = "60" and then oe-selftest -r archiver.Archiver2 -j 213:40

eduardooteroWARNING: Unsupported or no PREFERRED_PROVIDER selected for virtual/bootloader, rauc will not work correctly.14:48
eduardootero...14:48
eduardooteroI just tried to identify where they are coming from since the rauc bundles are being created successfully on my build, and PREFERRED_PROVIDER selected for virtual/bootloader is actually configured properly in the local.conf.14:48
eduardooteroI am just trying to see if I can get rid of the "annoying" warnings, which seem to not interfere with the result I expect from the build (if I am not overlooking something...), but they are a bit annoying to see I get around 10/12 or those messages every time I build.14:48

kanavinjclsn, "From the users’ perspective, this sadly seems like a missed opportunity for collaboration. " - yes, but kas never showed any interest in developing mechanisms like fragments in yocto core, or making kas use standard bitbake fetcher, or any other thing that would make it possible to not create another tool18:15
kanavinthe best we got out of them is that 'kas is mit-licensed, just take it', essentially a proposal to fork the codebase which no one would benefit from18:15

kanavinjclsn, not a single-step. you need to take local.conf snippets from kas.yaml and find a place for them in a layer18:25
kanavin(as fragments)18:25
