| jeroen_ | gitlab doesn't care, it upload artficats and download them again, doesn't even care if it the same machine, unless thinngs have changed | 19:37 |

| jeroen_ | it will work though.. just makes you wonder why on earth.... | 19:39 |
| Crofton | I get an error inthe the test stage | 19:42 |

| rburton | jeroen_: don't use artifacts or whatever to persist anything like sstate or dldir, just mount a shared volume into the runners | 20:09 |
| rburton | gitlab artifacts are implemented as "a big zip on S3 or something" which sucks if you have 10G of the stuff | 20:09 |
| *** Kubu_work is back | 20:10 | |
| jeroen_ | we use this https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/blob/master/ci-populate-artifacts.sh | 20:10 |
| jeroen_ | and this https://github.com/victronenergy/venus/blob/master/.gitlab-ci.yml | 20:10 |

| jeroen_ | or in short SSTATE if we want, never user gitlab artifact, we rsync them | 20:12 |
| rburton | we use https://git.yoctoproject.org/meta-arm/tree/.gitlab-ci.yml#n37 (CACHE_DIR is set to an EFS mount into the runners) | 20:13 |
| rburton | (EFS being amazon's branded NFS, as our runners are in AWS) | 20:13 |
| rburton | if you can rsync, can you not just run a httpd to expose the sstate and then you can just use it as a mirror? | 20:14 |
| jeroen_ | we have the sstate locally on disk | 20:14 |
| jeroen_ | the rsync is for "deployment", or in gitlab terms uploading the artifacts (which we skip) | 20:16 |

| rburton | ah ok | 20:17 |
| jeroen_ | not saying it is all brilliant, I was reacting to Crofton, those gitlab artficacts didn't work really well... | 20:21 |
| Crofton | I am trying to pass an image file that the test stage writes to an sd card | 20:22 |
| Crofton | I am trying to avoid using one stage (which might be the thing to do | 20:22 |
| rburton | one stage does avoid the shuffling | 20:22 |
| Crofton | yeah, non of this would have been a problem, but I added anohter runner i the basement | 20:23 |
| jeroen_ | Crofton: understood, we just bypass gitlab ! | 20:23 |
| Crofton | with sstate on nfs v... you need to use the hashserver over network? | 20:24 |
| Crofton | it si handy having the output somewhere easy to find | 20:24 |
| rburton | yeah we have a hashserve too | 20:25 |
