nerdboyyou can try fuzz=3 and see if it applies09:11
nerdboybut check it make sure it applied correctly09:12
nerdboyin oe-classic, i've had some valid patches fail with quilt09:12
nerdboyyou might try it by hand with the normal patch command09:14
linunerdboy, ya  i will try,you know before i was working on buildroot, this is my first visit into yocto,so i am struggling, i think fuzz=3  may works, i will try09:15
nerdboyi've actually added manual patch commands in a do_configure_prepend a couple of times09:15
nerdboyagain, in oe-classic09:15
nerdboymostly because i didn't want to redo the patch from scratch09:15
nerdboyor maybe there's a quilt swicth i could've used09:16
nerdboythere should be an OEPATCH_OPTS or something  (he said without looking)09:17
nerdboylooks like quilt has fuzz so go try it and see...09:18

D4v33Can someone help me understand how I am supposed to use Yocto. I think I understand that it builds a distribution, but how do I use that? Yocto is used to build some version of the linux kernel based on some git repo, if I want to add or modify some drivers do they have to be added to the repo before Yocto builds it or do I do then modification locally and that's what gets built?13:04
ndecD4v33: you are mixing up a few things ;-)13:04
D4v33Great thats a start13:05
ndecYocto is an 'overall' project that includes openembedded-core, bitbake, and poky (among other things)13:05
ndecpoky is a 'reference' distro that is released by Yocto13:05
D4v33OK13:05
ndecit comes with the yocto kernel which is indeed supported by yocto.13:06
ndechowever very often what you want to do is build your own distro , add your own software, and including your own kernel.13:06
D4v33the fsl-community-bsp is where I am comming from has 3 kernels to choose from.13:07
ndecgenerally each 'soc' will indeed provide an OE layer with BSP for their machines.13:07
ndecif you are interested in FSL, you can build your 'own' product/distro by using oe-core, meta-fsl and any other layers that has software you need.13:08
ndecyou can create new layers for your own stuff if you need.13:08
ndec(including proprietary if that's needed)13:08
D4v33OK I think.13:08
*** rainerschuster <rainerschuster!~Adium@firewall.methodpark.de> has left #yocto13:09
D4v33so if I want to build a particular driver in, say a wireless one where do I start?13:09
ndecfirst, are you able to build an image that works on your board?13:10
ndecwithout this driver13:10
D4v33OK I think I've got that, I did bitbake fsl-image-minimal13:10
ndecok. is your driver in the kernel, or is it an out-of-tree kernel module?13:11
D4v33I need to be able to do both, I guess for now an intree driver13:11
ndecif it's in the kernel you need to identify which kernel recipe was used to build your image, and update the defconfig in that recipe.13:11
D4v33can I still use make menuconfig or do I have to treak the defconfig files13:12
D4v33s/treak/tweak13:12

ndeclet me try quickly13:14
D4v33surely if you don;t use menuconfig you have all the dependencies to resolve?13:15
ndecwell, i use menuconfig outside of oe... and copy the defconfig file... i just don't need to do that often, so i never tried to find a better solution...13:16
ndecwell, in fact you can do it from bitbake... i just tried13:16
ndecbitbake -c menuconfig <recipe>13:16
ndecwhere <recipe> is the name of your kernel recipe13:16
D4v33let me try13:16
ndecso, you have to know that bitbake does all its components 'stuff' in tmp/work/<arch or machine>/components/...13:17

RPhalstead: thanks, I've set a master build away21:50
RPhalstead: so what was it?21:51
halsteadRP, It's because on all the refreshed builders pokybuild is in /home instead of /srv/home but ab01 still needs the builds to run in /srv21:51
RPhalstead: ah, that would explain it21:52
halsteadRP, Because it hasn't been rebuilt to the new spec the slave was running /home and filled that partition.21:52
halsteadRP, ab01 is basically ready to take down. I'd like to rebuild it with the new naming scheme.21:52
RPhalstead: feel free to do that whenever is appropriate. I'm conscious its holiday week over there though...21:54

halsteadRP, Thanks. I'm visiting family tomorrow but will be generally available. It should be a good time to take care of this.21:55

Zaifmr_science , bluelightning : I repeated the same blunder of copy pasting recipes without looking out for which poky version they are compatible. I am using old poky Danny 8.0 and just copied systemd from openembedded-core layer. That's where my build was broken. Removing that solved the issue.22:30
