lzo | frsc / mckoan : i tried to do it this way but looking at the 70-persistent-net.rules file existing in my host distribution, but it looks like this is automatically generated, so if edit it myself, i will probably have to know the ATTR{address} before building my image, considering i have several interfaces | 09:31 |

frsc | SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="*", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="sit0", NAME="eth0" | 09:34 |
mckoan | frsc: have a look at /lib/udev/write_net_rules | 09:35 |
lzo | yes, but it means that i have to know that the kernel interface name is "sit0" before generating the udev rule. Thus, no really need to have this kind of renaming because if i already know it'll be "sit0", i can directly update /etc/network/interface file accordingly, which is what i'm currently doing tbh | 09:38 |

ionte | hi. need a hint: | 11:25 |
tasslehoff | can I have two versions of gcc installed in my sdk? | 11:26 |
ionte | i'm building a distro for beaglebone (actually beaglebone green wireless). all works except that on boot u-boot looks for am335x_boneblack.dtb, but my device tree has another name. | 11:26 |
ionte | what's the best way to handle that? as far as i can tell there are two ways: rename the device tree or include a uEnv.txt | 11:26 |
ionte | uEnv.txt seems to be the most flexible option, but I'm unsure where/in what recipe i should handle that | 11:27 |
ionte | optionally the uEnv.txt should be dynamically generated to use the same device tree as KERNEL_DEVICETREE | 11:27 |

CTtpollard | rburton: of course, Im just wondering what I need to add to sshd_config to confirm bitbake has configured it | 11:32 |
rburton | well if you added the package then it should be working | 11:33 |
rburton | totally the best way to test it is to try sftping in, then you check that its *actually* working | 11:33 |
CTtpollard | I can see the lib is there under usr/lib/openssh/sftp-server, but no config set in sshd_config | 11:35 |
CTtpollard | rburton: cool it's working, sftping directly to the host working by default :) | 11:37 |
CTtpollard | thanks | 11:37 |
ionte | Got another idea: i could perhaps make am335x-bloneblack.dtb a symbolic link to the real dtb in do_install_append of the kernel recipe ... | 11:39 |

stwcx | buildroot for instance doesn't have the "sstate" which can take a typical 1hr rebuild down to minutes. | 14:37 |
blotunga | stwcx: as a developer I appreciate lower barrier of entry, less hoops to jump through to actually getting things done | 14:37 |
stwcx | blotunga: Right. It is the difference between a developer for a single package vs the maintainer for a number of them. I have to do both. | 14:38 |
blotunga | yeah, but buildroot has a great manual control over the build if you know what you need | 14:38 |
stwcx | I maintain two different distributions. One that is bitbake based and one that is yocto based. | 14:38 |
stwcx | I mean... one is buildroot based. | 14:38 |
blotunga | right now I have to integrate our proprietary stuff in somebody else's proprietary stuff which uses yocto... ofc I know only about 5% of what they have there... | 14:39 |
stwcx | :D | 14:39 |
blotunga | the buildroot integration took me exactly 2 days | 14:40 |
blotunga | the yocto one, albeit with a bit more third party stuff, is dragging along for weeks | 14:40 |

stumpy | Looking in ../meta/conf/bitbake.conf, there's a line that says...'IMAGE_FEATURES += "${EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES}". | 19:47 |
stumpy | kergoth: if line cited above is parsed after local.conf is processed, setting EXTRA_IMAGE_FEATURES = package-management does the trick, correct? | 19:48 |

kergoth | so yes, as you say, adding it to extra image features will be fine | 19:54 |
